The Institute of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine (IAAM) was established by the Barberyn Ayurveda Resort group in 2003, as a knowledge hub to preserve, research, develop and share the wisdom of Ayurveda and indigenous medicine of Sri Lanka. IAAM is also formulating a model for integrative medicine in pursuing Barberyn’s overall vision of human development.
We modified the existing symbol to express the long tradition of Ayurveda as the oldest medicine known to man and their digital database which hosts the knowledge on healing plants of Sri Lanka.
At the heart of the flower symbol is a shape recognizable by all those who use digital tools.
CHALLENGE Our challenge was to create a modern look for an institute whose mandate is to preserve the knowledge of an ancient science and philosophy. We had to balance the wish for a contemporary appearance with the absolute need to maintain a scientific approach and credibility.
